Repeat Prescriptions

The easiest way to request repeat medication is to order online via the link on this website.

To use this service for the first time, you will need to obtain a username and password from our reception team.

Alternatively, you may request your prescription in writing at the surgery.

We are dealing with high volumes of repeat requests please allow TWO CLEAR working days between requesting and collecting repeat prescriptions and indicate collection point in Medication Request Notes.

Please note online requests submitted over a weekend will be processed on Monday and ready for collection on Thursday.

Is my prescription ready for collection?

If you have access to GP online services you can now see whether your prescription has been issued. Simply go to "Records", then "Summary Patient Record" and you will see your current repeat medications and the date of the last issue. Your prescription should be ready 2 clear working days following that issue date. This means that you can now check to see if your prescription is ready before leaving the house to collect it. However, please be mindful that community pharmacies are currently very busy so you may wish to allow a little longer. You will also be able to see all acute prescriptions for the last 12 months and when they were issued.

Please help us to help you

You are able to request Repeat Medications ten days before the "next issue due" date on your repeat slip

We can help you to avoid having to request different medications at different times of the month - please ask dispensary staff for assistance with this.

If the review date on your repeat prescription has passed, please request your prescription as usual. If the GP wishes to see you at an appointment, you will be contacted by reception to book the appointment.

28 Day Prescribing

In line with national prescribing guidelines and local Clinical Commissioning Group Trust recommendations, we are now prescribing for a maximum of 28 days at a time. This has been proven to reduce wastage of medicines (£100 million annually) by 15% where this has already been implemented in other parts of the country. The majority of prescriptions have already been for 28 days for some years. As a Practice we are committed to following these recommendations and hope that you will understand the reasoning behind this policy.

We have a team of amazing volunteers delivering prescriptions to villages on our behalf. Please click here for the weekly schedule.
We also now offer a free medicines delivery service straight to your home. Please ring 01223 727530 or email for further information on both services.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs). The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

Prescription (per item): £9.15 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £105.90 3-month PPC: £29.65. If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a prepayment card. If you would like advice or to order a PPC this can be done online or via the telephone on 0845 850 0030. There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
