Repeat Prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions can be ordered online (please obtain a username and password from reception if new to this system) or by dropping the repeat slip in at the Surgery, Duxford Supermarket, Whittlesford Post Office, Ickleton Shop, Thriplow Shop, Abington Shop, Boots Sawston, or sent in by post.

If you are unable to make your request in any of the above ways, please contact the Pharmacy Manager on 01223 727565 to arrange an alternative method.

Allow 2 clear working days before collecting repeat prescriptions and indicate collection point in Medication Request Notes.

Please note online requests submitted over a weekend will be processed on Monday and ready for collection on Thursday.

Dispensing at Sawston

Monday 8.00 am - 8.00 pm and Tuesday to Friday 8.00 am - 6.00 pm

We provide a dispensing service to all our patients who wish to have their medicines from us.

Our Pharmacy is open to everyone. Patients do not need to be registered with our Practice to make use of this facility. We also have a selection of over the counter medicines for sale.

In conjunction with our local Alliance Pharmacy we can arrange to send repeat prescriptions direct to the pharmacist for collection. Please ask at Alliance Pharmacy for details.

We make deliveries of medicines to some villages, eg Duxford, Ickleton and Whittlesford where there are central collection points. Please ask about this facility if you are interested.

Although we discourage the use of the telephone for repeat prescriptions, should you have a query regarding your prescription you may telephone 01223 727530 in order to discuss it.

Dispensing at Linton

8.30 am - 6.00 pm Monday to Friday

Please allow a minimum of 2 full working days for your request to be processed, e.g order on Monday, allow us Tuesday and Wednesday to complete the work, collect the prescription Thursday. Patients living in Linton itself must take the paper prescription to a chemist for the prescription to be filled. Those patients living in the villages have access to our own dispensary facilities. Some villages have special arrangements for the collection of medicines, designed to help the elderly and those with transport problems, but you do need to allow extra time if you use one of these services.

Accuracy of dispensing is essential and in a bid to minimise interruptions to the dispensers we ask that you only phone between 11:30 am and 4:30 pm if you have a telephone enquiry.

We do not accept telephone requests for repeat prescriptions.

Please help us to help you

We are dealing with high volumes of repeat requests and we require TWO clear working days to ensure that your prescription is ready.

You are able to request Repeat Medications 10 Days before they are required.

Avoid requesting different medication at different times if you can plan to get all your medication on one request (the pharmacist can assist).

28 Day Prescribing

In line with national prescribing guidelines and local Primary Care Trust recommendations, we are now prescribing for a maximum of 28 days at a time. This has been proven to reduce wastage of medicines (£100 million anually) by 15% where this has already been implemented in other parts of the country. The majority of prescriptions have already been 28 days for some years. As a Practice we are committed to following these recommendations and hope that you will understand the reasoning behind this change in policy.

Pre-Payment Certificates

They are suitable for patients who have more than 4 items in 3 months or more than 14 items in 12 months. They cost £28.25 for 3 months ans £104.00 for 12 months and cover ALL prescriptions during that time frame.

You can obtain a form from us to apply for a prepayment certificate by post or you can apply via this website. It is even possible to do the yearly certificate by direct debit(over 10 months) to spread the cost even more - although we can't do that in house.

Medication Review

We are keen to ensure that patients with ongoing medical problems are monitored regularly. If the date for your next review with a doctor or nurse has passed you will be asked to make an appointment to see your doctor before your next prescription is due.
