Repeat Prescriptions

The easiest way to request repeat medication is to order online via the link on this website.

To use this service for the first time, you will need to obtain a username and password in person from reception if new to this system - you can do this by bringing two forms of identification to reception (one form of ID must include your registered address and one form of ID must include your photograph).

Alternatively, you may request your prescription in writing at the surgery.

We are dealing with high volumes of repeat requests please allow TWO CLEAR working days between requesting and collecting repeat prescriptions and indicate collection point in Medication Request Notes.

Please note online requests submitted over a weekend will be processed on Monday and ready for collection on Thursday.

Please help us to help you

You are able to request Repeat Medications ten days before the "next issue due" date on your repeat slip

.

We can help you to avoid having to request different medications at different times of the month - please ask dispensary staff for assistance with this.

If the review date on your repeat prescription has passed, please request your prescription as usual. If the GP wishes to see you at an appointment, you will be contacted by reception to book the appointment.

28 Day Prescribing

In line with national prescribing guidelines and local Clinical Commissioning Group Trust recommendations, we are now prescribing for a maximum of 28 days at a time. This has been proven to reduce wastage of medicines (£100 million annually) by 15% where this has already been implemented in other parts of the country. The majority of prescriptions have already been for 28 days for some years. As a Practice we are committed to following these recommendations and hope that you will understand the reasoning behind this policy.

We make deliveries of medicines to some villages, please go here for details of villages and timings. Please ask about this facility if you are interested.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs). The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

Prescription (per item): £8.60 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £104.00 3-month PPC: £29.10. If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a prepayment card. If you would like advice or to order a PPC this can be done online or via the telephone on 0845 850 0030. There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
